A Dive into GCSEs at RHS – Arianna O

A Dive into GCSEs at RHS – Arianna O

As we are now in the dreaded exams seasons. I took it upon myself to ask the older students of year 10 and 11 how they’re feeling as they approach their GSCEs.

First, I asked Bella Chauffour on her thoughts as she moves from year 10 to year 11 soon.

“We’ve been doing GCSE work since year 9, it’s nerve-wracking knowing that GCSEs is soon, but the teachers are definitely supportive and that really comforts me,”.

After, I interviewed Bella, I interviewed Julliette in Raliegh, year 11.

“What subjects are you doing?” I asked

“History, Spanish, Drama and Music,” Juliette said.

“What are your thoughts?” I asked

“I think I would be nervous the day before, but in a way I’m ready and just ready to do it, we’ve been preparing this for these 2 years,” Juliette replied.

“What do you think your results are going to be?” I asked

“Well, it really depends on the subject and hopefully I pass the subjects I like, but for some subjects like math for me I’m just hoping that I pass,” She answered.

“How do you think the teachers have helped you so far,” I asked.

“A lot of teachers have helped us by giving us pass papers, which has really helped, and went over parts in subjects that we find difficult, over-all teachers has been really helpful and supportive,” She responded.

Speaking to students on the front lines reveals that the GCSE experience is nerve-wracking. The anxiety is real not just from our year 11 students, but from the entire school waiting anxiously as they go through their exams. However as Juliette emphasizes, they’re prepared due to a strong force of invaluable teachers who have been preparing them since they stepped into year 9.

Wishing all year 11s the best of luck with GCSEs.
