Turning the Page – Mr Raybould, Head Of Hockey

Turning the Page – Mr Raybould, Head Of Hockey

As his RHS chapter comes to a close, Mr Raybould turns the page, with a new adventure to embark on.

With another school year coming to a close we pause to recognise staff who will sadly not be returning, but instead moving onto new chapters in their adventures. This Bubble feature will provide some insight into staff departing whilst celebrating their hard work, commitment and dedication which will forever leave a lasting impact on our RHS community. This final edition features a farewell for Mr Raybould who’s been at RHS for 10 years, starting as Head of Biology, a role held for 7 years until poor health led him to the difficult decision to step down.

Read on to find out more about Mr Raybould’s RHS journey.

Mr Raybould’s favourite RHS memories:

  • For Mr Raybould, the school trip he led to Mexico in 2023 would have to be his best RHS highlight. From the moment of leaving the airport at Cancun driving through the city into the more remote region of the Yucatan, to arriving at their jungle destination, all the sites they saw were breathtaking. Spotting puma footprints just 250m from their tents, ‘chatting’ with howler monkeys in the trees and climbing to the top of a Mayan temple and also looking out over endless forest “was incredible.” Finally, “learning to scuba dive and coming face to face with a barracuda was pretty impressive. These memories will last a lifetime!”

An insight into Mr Raybould’s next adventure:

  • Mr Raybould will be heading to Finborough School as a Science Teacher and moving that way this summer too, an exciting change for the whole family.

What do you hope or think you will be most remembered for?

“I think there could be a few, from my Academy Award winning performance as Igor the hunchback mad scientist at Spooky Science to my memorable way of helping students learn how to calculate % change – NOO!!!! (if you know you know). Maybe it will be my ability to stay fresh and ‘down with the kids’ with current trends and for using awesome corridor greetings. Overall I most hope I will be remembered for my passion for biology and willingness to share real life examples.”

Mr Raybould’s time at RHS has clearly been an adventure, one to never forget. As he moves on, he simply turns the page into a new chapter in his journey, whilst his time at RHS comes to a close, the memories he leaves behind will remain a part of many pupils’ stories, alongside our RHS story. We all wish him every success as he discovers what lies ahead, continuing to turn countless pages.

“These memories will last a lifetime!” – Mr Raybould.

This feature marks the end of ‘Turning the Page’, we all wish staff the very best and hope they will always keep a little part of RHS in their hearts.
