Poems for 2020 – Year 7, Anon.
World Mental Health Day poems by Ms Stone’s Year 7 poets.
My 2020
This year has been crazier than ever before
My feelings are in a kettle ready to boil over
I want to be outside with the trees and fresh water
Everybody says it will be ok
I slowly nod my head and say ok
Though really I’m wondering when I will be free
It’s like waiting on a waterslide waiting for the nod
To go
My 2020
This year I’ve felt more energetic than every before
The room of my feelings is small
On the walls they look like lockdown
My feelings taste like plain sandwiches at a picnic that only taste like bread
My feelings smell like the outdoors like a forest
My feelings feel like the relief after you’ve done something terrifying
My 2020
This year I’ve been more trapped than ever before
The room of my feelings is small but big and hot and sunny with nowhere to go and
On the walls they look like prison bars or windows with nail marks and finger prints where people have tried to get out
My feelings smell like hot ash and sweat- a dirty room when no one has done the washing
My feelings feel like a wildcat inside of me; clawing to get out
