Y7 Column: How many jobs will be affected by AI? – Ellie B

As well as doing speeches in chapel this year, a Year 7 column will be running fortnightly so that those in Year 7 can also have the opportunity to publish an article akin to the prefect ‘Thought For the Week’. This week’s Year 7 column contribution comes from Ellie B, who has written about AI in the workplace:

How many jobs will be affected by AI?

Artificial intelligence could have both a negative and positive impact on the world. There would be many jobs that would be affected by the introduction of AI, such as:

  • Computer Programmers
  • Technical Writers
  • Data Analysts
  • Graphic Designers
  • Copywrite /Email Writers
  • Legal Assistants
  • Market Analysts
  • Financial Advisors

Why is this positive?

This is positive because if AI can do jobs that we do only for the high income, you could focus on getting a job that you liked and would still get paid for it well. AI can also help you on generating pictures for homework/ coursework/ projects that are not copyrighted and you do not have to include an acknowledgements page.

Why is this negative?

This could have a negative impact because it could make many people in the industries listed above lose their jobs consequently earning them nothing and there would be more poverty in the world which would be bad for humanity. AI also has preferences built into its database potentially discriminating the group not in favour.
