Meet the sacristans – Eve H
I’m sure many of you found out about the sacristans after after our public humiliation on Thursday (thanks for that Reverend), but here is a little more about us and what we do in the Chapel when you aren’t there. The questions they will be answering are, what is your fave hymn? (obviously), what is your fave place in chapel? what is your fave duty?
Reverend Mumford – The Chaplain
My favourite hymn is Dear Lord and Father of Mankind which was sung when I came to interview at the school.
My favourite place/duty: at the start of the major services there is a moment when I am at the very back of Chapel, stood next to the font, and I am behind everyone else. The organ is the loudest at that point, it is the first hymn and the singing is fantastic. I take a deep breath and step forward to follow the verger. Every time I take that step I am filled with awe, pride and anticipation for worshipping God as a community.
Amelia P – Head Sacristan (2023-2024)
my favourite hymn is Jerusalem because everyone gives it there all on the last verse, which is very touching.
My favourite part of chapel would have to be the alter because it is a very peaceful and a nice place to reflect.
My favourite duty in Chapel would be collecting donations after an important Chapel service as you get to communicate with parents.
Letila P – Dep Head Sacristan (2023-2024)
fave hymn is 375 duh
The very back of the chapel
Saturday duties are the only duty for me.
Rufus G – Dep Head Sacristan (2023-2024)

Any duty with the dep dep head Rufus T is the best whatever we do.

The sacristan seats are the best place in Chapel
Any duty with my baes.

I love hymn 2 (all people on earth) – all the best chapel services have hymn number 2 in.
I love the mosaic in the lady chapel, not a place but I like looking at it, I can’t believe someone made it.
I really like turning sound on weirdly, mainly because I like doing a sound check into the mics.

the side prayer room – I think it’s called that
My Tuesday duty with Nikki is supreme.

He didn’t answer the questions but Rufus G assures me his answers would be the same – because they are twins.
And our new sacristans starting after half term are:
Niece A
My favourite hymn is Number 9.
Fave place is the Choir stalls
Honestly what I think my favourite part about duties will be is just being alone in the chapel, it’s great. And I want to ring the bell.

I’m not sure if this counts but I love the organ and being up there – it’s crazy how loud it is!
I can’t lie I’m excited to light the candle.
We are great I won’t lie, if your joining sixth form next year, become a sacristan, it’s fun.
