If these aren’t enough to satisfy your Halloween spirit, we also recommend Scaresville at Kentwell Hall, Scarefest at Alton Towers and Shriek Week at Colchester Zoo (I promise there are no monkeys involved!)
Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)
Age rating – PG
This exciting release came out last week, almost 30 years after the original movie. Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy have returned to play the Sanderson Sisters, reviving the comedic spirit of the original. This is a must for half term and is already available on Disney+ to get you in the spirit for Halloween.
Wendell and Wild (2022)
Age rating – 12
Netflix’s new horror comedy film has the critics abuzz, with 94% from rotten tomatoes! This suspenseful stop motion film follows two demon brothers who make a deal with 13-year-old Kat, to bring them back to life, leading them on a spooky and eccentric adventure. This will be released in cinemas on the 21st October and on Netflix on the 28th October.
Halloween Ends (2022)
Age rating – 18
For those of you looking for a slightly scarier option, this chilling horror movie is for you. The final film of the Halloween trilogy promises to be just as terrifying as the last two, so if you dare to watch it, let us know if it’s truly as scary as critics are anticipating! Michael Myers slashes his way to cinemas on 14th October but we recommend the 1978 original Halloween to get your teeth chattering.
Caspar
Age rating – PG
Now to bring back this 1995 classic, Caspar is a comedy-drama about a friendly ghost, who is searching for a friend. This beloved classic is definitely one to revisit over half term if you’re feeling nostalgic.
Scream
Age rating – 18
Scream is one of the most well-known horror movies, and for good reason. This gory slasher follows characters who are in a horror movie because they have seen so many of them, adding an extra thrill to the movie. You may want to sleep with the lights on after this one! Once you’ve seen the original film there are 4 sequels, a relaunch/ sequel and 3 seasons of Scream: TV series to sink your fangs into.
*All age ratings from the BBFC at time of publication.
