Favourite Christmas song? – Esme Peters
Christmas is hands down the best time of year. And with at the time of writing 29 days, 14 hours and 30 minutes until Christmas, the countdown has truly begun. To me a large part of this countdown is the music, not to be listened to until December 1st, but it puts you straight into the Christmassy mood and is the ultimate way to ramp up the excitement. But with so many good Christmas songs I find it has always been hard to pick a favourite, so I asked 10 members of the school (teachers and pupils) what they believed the best Christmas song of all time is…
What is your favourite Christmas song? – Alex Jackson
Band Aid (do they know its Christmas 1984)
Why?
It’s cringey I admit, but it’s a banger. Facts.
What is your favourite Christmas song? – Mr Barker
2000 miles – The Pretenders
Why?
I’ve always loved Chrissy Hynde’s vocals
What is your favourite Christmas song? – Sophie Pasco
I like them all
Why?
They’re all good. I was listening to them all Exceat. I don’t care if it’s not December.
What is your favourite Christmas song? – Talan Hogan
Step into Christmas – Elton John
Why?
Because it’s Elton John
What is your favourite Christmas song? – David Otsba, Year 7
Santa Claus is coming to town
Why?
It reminds me about the goodness of Christmas
What is your favourite Christmas song? – Josie Ruffles
Jingle Bell Rock
Why?
Because its in Mean Girls, I don’t like the song just the movie. (Josie doesn’t actually like Christmas)
What is your favourite Christmas song? – Mr Dixon
Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
Why?
The same as everyone else
What is your favourite Christmas song? – Ms Stone
All I want for Christmas is you
Why?
Because the first time it came out was the time I fell in love with Max Shepard.
What is your favourite Christmas song? – Giles Lennox
All I want for Christmas is you
Why?
Because it’s THE song you listen to get you in the mood for Christmas. It’s a serious tune!
What is your favourite Christmas song? – Amelia Potter
Once in Royal David’s city
Why?
Because I sang it awfully at my primary school Christmas advent school service, I had a solo – which I was given for reasons unknown.
Personally it has got to be Fairytale of New York, I struggle to sing along but lines I can manage just make me feel a level of Christmas excitement not felt elsewhere. The 1st of December is less than a week away, so sort out your Christmas playlists now!!!!
