The Coronation Concert Lineup – Amelia G

While planning the coronation concert that will be taking place this Sunday, organisers were faced with the struggle of finding artists to perform after their originally planned lineup declined, some due to scheduling issues and others declining to comment on their absence. However a lineup has been confirmed along with the hosts of the event: Paddington and Hugh Bonneville.

Some that passed on the opportunity included the Spice Girls, Robbie Williams, Harry Styles and Adele, who’d also passed on the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Most significant was Elton John, who declined due to scheduling conflicts but some have speculated that this had more to do with his friendship with Princess Diana. Luckily Charles managed to find someone to perform at his concert, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie will be headlining the event with other performers like Take That. This seems like an odd combination but makes sense because of Charles’ charitable work with both Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.

Snoop Dogg was “down to perform at the coronation” but unfortunately isn’t featured in the lineup on Sunday. His appreciation of the royal family started when the Queen reportedly prevented him from being banned from the country, a decision he says was influenced by William and Harry. This is Snoop’s interpretation of how things went: “That’s Harry and William’s grandmother, you dig? you think they weren’t there saying, ‘Grandma, please let him in. He’s OK. We love his music.’, ‘You know Harry, I’ll let him in for you. He’s not so bad after all and he’s quite cute.’ … The Queen, that’s my gal.”

I’m sure the concert will be a popular event on Sunday even without Snoop Dogg, so if you’re interested it will be televised from 8pm.
