How To Be Matron’s Favourite – Tilly J
Coming from a full boarder, these are my steps on a quick and efficient way on becoming Matron’s favourite
Step One:
Have an older sibling (preferably two) to scavenge for any second-hand uniform and label them at least one full term before you start at RHS (thanks Lottie and Jessie!)
Step Two:
Spend at least thirty minutes every week sorting the kitchens out (yes that really means venturing into the junior kitchens)
Step Three:
Always have a tidy room
Step Four:
Always wait patiently for your phone and try not to break the office door down whilst in the process of waiting
Step Five:
NEVER walk past with a ladder in your tights
Step Six:
Consume a minimum of 10 sausage (or the vegetarian/vegan alternative) rolls on Sports Day
Step Seven:
Always say ‘Good Morning’ when you go downstairs for morning roll call or whenever you walk into house
Step Eight:
Everyday, have a 10-minute chat/gossip
Step Nine:
Have all your clothes labelled with name, house and laundry number, like in the photo below
And finally…
Step 10:
REMEMBER YOUR PLEASES AND THANK YOUS
Completion of all steps correctly should guarantee free second-hand school uniform (maybe even a pair of tracksuits too) and extra cheese scones (if you’re in Hood or any house where Matron bakes Mary Berry-level treats)
However, all matrons vary so some may expect a little bit more/less to get in their good books.
