Molly’s Monthly Music Mix – Molly Freeman
For the month of March, I have some up-and-coming artists from the indie scene.
- SPINN – Who You Are
Like many of these songs featured, this song is a funky tune to dance alone to or boogie along to in the shower. Similar sound to: Everything Everything, Only Real.
- The Vegan Leather – I Take American
I say this about a lot of songs but this is a catchy song and has almost cult-like chanting with its rhyming chorus. Similar sound to: CHVRCHES, The Strumbellas.
(So indie it isn’t even on YouTube!)
- Gengahr – Before Sunrise
This song is almost psychedelic; you could totally zone out and picture being somewhere else. Similar sound to: Blossoms, Circa Waves.
- King No-One – Toxic Love
Very similar to a pop song and a ‘poppy’ sound but has a dark side to it too. Similar sound to: Viola Beach, The Hunna, We Are The Ocean.
- Swimming Girls – Back of Your Car
I find this song to be kind of summery as it is so upbeat and has a nostalgia attached to a summer love. Similar sound to: Fickle Friends, Rae Morris.
- Tom Grennan – Sober
Maybe some people have heard of this song but I still think it is worth mentioning. Grennan has some decent songs, which are a good listen. Similar sound to: Ady Suleiman, Coasts.
- YVES – Hell from Your Hello
One for the drummers. Here’s one more on the ‘rocky’ side. The kind where you can hardly hear what they are singing. Similar sound to: Corella, Paris Youth Foundation.
- The Academic – Fake ID
Another summery one for me. Makes me want to run around in a field with friends, messing about. Similar sound to: The Night Café, Circa Waves.
- Mellor – Arms Length
This follows a similar tune to the rest of this list but it is still a good song. Similar sound to: High Tyde, Ten Tonnes.
- Vance Joy – Like Gold
You may know this man from ‘Riptide’ but he is not just a one-hit wonder. His new album is actually very good and this is a personal favourite from it. Similar sound to: Tom Odell. Passenger.
