Get to know: Miss Brady – Sophie P & Hebe M
As we enter week 5 of the new year at RHS, we thought now was the perfect time to introduce the new onslaught of teachers. First on the rota… Ms Brady, a passionate teacher of both Spanish and French.
With RHS being her first full-time teaching job, we inquired into the reason behind the career change. To this she explained that the lack of languages teachers in the UK was a saddening issue, so, with a desire to revive young people’s love for languages, she set out to complete her training, including a stint at Farlingaye High School. Gaining her qualifications just last year, she finds herself at the prestigious establishment we call our own.
First, lets look into her experiences at the school so far:
· Favourite meal: grilled haddock with a potato and cabbage gratin… a sophisticated choice.
· Favourite class: Undecided – BUT there was a mention of her year 10 Spanish class being the most relaxing… a possible contender? I’d have to disagree, the only correct choice being the A-level Spanish class!
· Your go-to colleague: Ms Shopova. Supportive, understanding and some would say a walking Pinterest board.
· Favourite colour: Green. Some would argue this isn’t school related; however, it is in full agreement with the school colours.
Now, to delve into her personal life:
· Pets: a Hungarian Vizsla called Ella. A fitting name for an energetic and affectionate dog.
· Favourite TV show: Gilmore Girls. First discovered by her and her sister in Mexico, of all places, a perfect recommendation for the current autumnal season.
· Hobbies: Running, swimming and being a wine merchant (also an earlier career), providing a thrilling conversation starter (for Mr Hodson?) and insight into her diverse personality.
· Fun Fact: Can dance flamenco, salsa and samba… Look out Mr Corby!
Finally, we asked a question which has been a point of contention for many new sixth formers: iPad or Surface? To which she responded ‘iPad’ pleasing the mob of Apple Users who now terrorise A-level lessons.
We hope this article helps to introduce a new integral part of the languages department, and perhaps, inspires you to strike up a conversation with Ms Brady.
Look out for next weeks edition…
