This week I decided to look at five of the top rated films from 2024. The year brought us a wide array of new movies, and for those who haven’t seen them yet – hopefully there’s something to add to your watchlist…

Deadpool and Wolverine
Released: 25th July 2024
Summary: An action-packed film following two characters – Deadpool and Wolverine. The two antiheroes form an unlikely partnership, navigating personal conflicts, intense battles, and their shared history in the X-Men universe. The film blends humour, intense action, and emotional depth as the duo faces formidable enemies and are forced to confront their pasts.
Long Legs
Released: 12th July 2024
Summary: a psychological thriller centred around a young woman who uncovers a chilling secret about her past, leading her to confront a terrifying creature known as “Long Legs.” As she delves deeper into her mystery, she discovers that the monster is connected to forces intent on keeping the truth buried as it stalks her every move.
Wicked
Released: 22nd November 2024
Summary: a musical fantasy that explores the untold story of the witches of Oz, focusing on the unlikely friendship between Elphaba, the misunderstood “Wicked Witch of the West,” and Glinda, the Good Witch. The film delves into their contrasting personalities, their struggles for power, and the events that ultimately lead to their iconic fates whilst narrating the stories of their companions at Shiz University.
