Get to know … Mr Lloyd! – Amelia G

For those of you who haven’t heard the corridor whisperings of a Pokemon loving YouTuber, meet Mr Lloyd. Here is a little introduction to get to know the maths department’s newest member.

What is the most unexpected thing about you?

“People are normally surprised when I reveal that I have a YouTube Channel. I started it 18 months ago to create exam paper walkthroughs for pupils, and try to create some alternative playlists, such as “parent tips” and “teacher tips” to help people find resources to help their children/pupils prepare for exams. I’ve covered some GCSE and Core Maths papers, and will be starting work on it again after half term. The “shorts” section is something I’ve been playing around with but needs a lot of work! I was aiming to create some calculator tips but I’ve also been adding hockey and cricket videos to it too!”

Do you have any good film or book recommendations?

“I’d like to change film recommendations to series recommendations, 100% Stranger Things is a must watch when you’re old enough, I think it’s a 15. My all-time favourite book, or series of books, would have to be the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. It’s quite a big book, and my time to sit down and read for pleasure is slightly limited, however I get around that by listening to books on Audible, which is how I got to the end of that series”

What has surprised you most about RHS?

“The walking, 100% the walking!”

What is your favourite school meal so far?

“For sure the fish and chips we had on Friday… (yes, even during Inset)”

Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself?

“I try my best to work and play hard. In my spare time I quite like to have a good session on Football Manager, I used to play a lot of FIFA but it’s difficult to keep up with the top players without committing a lot of time to the game. I also have two dogs, Harry (Miniature Labradoodle) and Betty (Schnoodle), they both love a walk, and barking at anyone and everyone, and whilst walking them I enjoy playing a bit of Pokemon Go. I promise, Pokemon was a big game when I was at school!”
