Did The Simpsons Predict The UK Fuel Shortage? – Scarlet Ackes
Many Simpsons fans almost predicted the UK’s fuel shortage after watching the 2010 “Lisa Simpson, This Isn’t Your Life” episode.
In this episode we see a scene where Homer Simpson can be seen filling up his car boot with 1,000 gallons (about half the volume of a storage unit) of fuel to win a promotional toy for his daughter Maggie. This has appeared to be compared to the shortage of more than 100,000 HGV drivers, which many have been panic-buying petrol, leading to emptied stations just hours after the panic. From this there was an 8-year-high on petrol prices as the demand skyrocketed out of control.
This clip had since gone viral on Twitter after many people all over social media have speculated that the writer, Matt Groening, is a ‘time traveler.’
But this is not the first time The Simpsons has foreseen future events….
The Simpsons have many times previously ‘predicted future events’ such as Donald Trump winning the US Election and the Ebola Virus. These have amazed people time and time again, so what do you think? Do you think Matt Groening in a time traveler?
