Thought for the week – Lily Mason
Shoot for the moon, because even if you miss you will land among the stars. This quote was said by Norman Vincent Peale to motivate his readers to strive for greatness, and is a quote I wanted to share with you today.
The quote has different interpretations depending on how you look at it. Some say it means aim high and if you fail you will still be in a better place than before, and others may say that even if you miss your goal you can still say you tried.
We cannot expect to motivate ourselves if we don’t believe in our ability to reach what we want, and who has the right to tell other people what they can and can’t achieve. Everyone here comes to this school because they deserved it, and everyone finishes school with what they deserved.
How many of us here claim on a daily basis that we are going to fail and that there is simply no hope? And then, how many of us don’t do any work to improve it? It is easy to convince yourself that you cannot do it, but imperative that we work harder to improve ourselves.
If you struggle with a subject, it doesn’t mean you can not do it, it just shows you need to put more hard work into it than others. Its not easy reaching high goals, NASA didn’t reach the moon in one go, but kept trying over and over again.
With roughly 96 more teaching days until exam season, and even less for mocks, it is time to set our goals high and work hard to achieve them. With the hard work you put into your goals; you will still be in a better place than if you neglected them. Therefore, I urge you all, Shoot for the moon, because even if you miss you will land among the stars.
