Mercury Retrograde – Olivia King
Had a particularly strange week? Good or bad? Mercury retrograde might just justify the abnormality of this past week’s events, as we are still currently in a period of retrograde. So if you’re looking for a light-hearted conspiracy, here it is.
Mercury retrograde refers to the illusion of planets moving backward through the night sky with respect to the zodiac. Only three times a year does Earth’s orbit interact with the orbits of other planets to create this apparent retrograde motion. In 2019, Mercury will be in retrograde during the date ranges of:
March 5th to 28th
July 7th to August 2nd
October 31st to November 20th
So this means that we are currently experiencing a period in which Mercury retrograde may effect our daily business.
The influence of retrograde depends on which of the zodiac earth signs it falls under. The Mercury retrograde we have been experiencing from the 5th of March is in Pisces, so is likely to effect them more than other signs. Here is what is to expect for all of the retrograde zodiacs in 2019:
PISCES (Feb 19—March 20)— Pisces governs illusion, making logic foggy. Expect daydreams, but practice creativity as this is the time for thinking outside the box to which normal reason limits us.
CANCER (June 21—July 22)— Cancer is a domesticated sign so allow for inconveniences involving household duties. Complete tasks, and revisit what wasn’t initially answered correctly. This will lift burdens and create a more focused mind, ready for the next incoming task.
SCORPIO (Oct 23—Nov 21)— For Scorpio, emotions rule rather than common sense. Let out what has been bottled up and allow for a period of restoration. Expect other to confide in you and let your words be a comfort.
Overall however, the planet Mercury rules communication, travel and contracts, so for the remaining days of retrograde, make allowances of disruption and check and double check emails. Review projects and plans and wait until Mercury is direct again to make any conclusive or important decisions.
Mercury retrograde is all about slowing down and being more mindful— a much needed period of reflection. Our modern mindset constantly ask us to be alert, aware and jump from task to task. By slowing down however, we are able to finish what we started, tie up loose ends and get back on top of our game. Use mercury retrograde periods as a welcome release from the fast pace that we are often required to take during the other 302 days of the year.
Thankfully, miscommunication shouldn’t be an issue for Brexit, scheduled for the 29th of March however, no guarantees can be made.
