Prefect thought of the week: Time to yourself – George Nicholls

Good morning,

As we all know, RHS is full of new and exciting opportunities, from day to day activities to school trips across the world, and as we have been told on many occasions we really do need to make the most of these opportunities, and use them to our full advantage during our time here.

However, the truth is, here at RHS we have extremely busy lives, almost non-stop in some cases, and it appears as though we are constantly trying to fill every minute of every day, leaving only just enough time for a couple hours sleep before we’re up and at it once again. And having been a boarder here since year 7 I can tell you that RHS life isn’t always an easy journey, and as much as I love my friends, there have been times where all I’ve wanted to do is get away from them.

All too often this busy lifestyle means that we leave out important time to have to ourselves, as it appears people constantly overlook the benefits of simply having some time to do nothing, time to relax, take a break and to focus on ourselves.

Now I’m not saying that this an excuse for you to just sit around all day, watching Netflix and achieving nothing, but I want people to take some time to have to themselves doing something that they enjoy, such as reading a book, while not having to worry about the demanding life that RHS throws at you.

Just 5 or 10 minutes every day can make a real difference to your mental wellbeing and your view of life.

We all get tired and fed up and we all deal with this in different ways, so this week I challenge you all to address this issue and to give yourself the opportunity to concentrate on you, and your wellbeing.

Have a lovely week!
