Prefect Thought for the Week #6 – Ben Willis
Everybody has a perceived limit, a certain point beyond which they believe it is impossible to reach. In almost all cases this is not true. In actual fact, with the correct mindset, and key qualities such as courage and perseverance, You will be able to reach further than you previously thought. You could get that next grade, score that extra goal or improve on something. You can often limit yourself by your mentality, for example if you only think you can get a B, you will work to that level, whereas if you believe that you can actually get an A, you will push that little bit harder in order to achieve the grade. Essentially, if you aim higher, you will push yourself harder and this will allow you to achieve greater things.
The courage comes in having that belief, this is the barrier that you must overcome in order to reach your goals. Top class athletes don’t think ‘oh I’m tired I won’t train today’, because they want to be the best they possibly can, and that is part of what makes them so good at what they do. They work through the problems that they encounter and strive for perfection. This outlook can help you in all walks of life, especially at RHS. I urge you in the next week to have the courage to take yourself out of your comfort zone, and aim higher. It could be in anything, academic or otherwise.
I would like to finish on a quote by Norman Vincent Peale: Aim for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars,
Thank you
Ben Willis
