Staff Sailing Club 2026 – Sophie P
As we approach May half-term, we are well into the warmer months of summer, which of course calls for more time outside, particularly by the water.
In the case of some of our staff, the new Staff Sailing Club has been the perfect addition to their Monday evenings, socialising, sailing and the occasional capsize.
The staff have the opportunity to refine their pre-existing skills (in the case of Mr Turner), or learn an entirely new skill (Mr Smith…). They get the expert training and advice from some of our sixth form sailing instructors, including sailing captain Toby Smith, Devon, Daisy and more. Other staff involved include, Miss Brady, Miss Johnstone and Miss Noble!
Upon speaking to Mr Smith, I gained some insider knowledge about the running of the evening. He had a private lesson with Devon, which he thoroughly enjoyed, and gave glowing recommendations about the experience. He claims his favourite part was the ‘Deliveroo Service’, where the food from the barbecue was delivered to his boat, sauce preferences and all!
