Next Year: Preparing for Change… – Imy L
As the school year rapidly draws to an end and a new one approaches, it is no doubt that there will be some brewing anticipation surrounding the changes for next year. From Super Saturdays to a brand new assembly hall, an array of innovative new features are being implemented to brighten your time at school and encourage a new and improved way of learning. Although the classic RHS traditions will still remain, be sure to keep an eye out for some of the following of RHS 3.0:
- The new sailing hub and clubhouse
- St. Vincent house’s transformation
- New sixth form freedoms and planning for a sixth form centre
Those are just to name a few of the exciting new features of RHS that we get to enjoy from September. So what really are the benefits going to be? No Saturday school will mean a chance to recharge over the weekend after a busy week, and shorter and snappier lessons will lead to an increase in focus across the school – all of which I’m sure we can agree will be highly beneficial. Although the prospect of an eight period day may seem arduous, in reality it will mean more focused learning objectives and a more natural amount of time to really focus on your subject without feeling too long. Finally, this new flexibility and shorter school days will mean a better opportunity to hone in on skills and interests that may have been difficult to find time for before. Buses departing earlier gives a chance to do more in your evenings and possibly even get an early nights sleep! Free Saturdays could mean joining a new club or society outside of what you do in school. Overall although these changes will have a new and different feel, they really are a positive for the school as seen from the array of benefits.
As Nelson Mandela once said, ‘Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world’ – make the most of every opportunity that these changes will give to you across RHS and embrace the future. So I leave you to ponder on the change and how you plan to utilise it – what are your thoughts?
