Meet the Heads of Houses Part 2 – Jamie P
Welcome back! This week, I interviewed the new head of houses in Raleigh, Hawke, Hood and Collingwood.
Raleigh
Theo G
Hi, I’m Theo. I am studying History, Geography and Economics along with EPQ. I am a member of Guard and choir and also do CCF. My hobbies have to be history, running (which is probably obvious to the people who know me) and singing all the hymns in chapel obnoxiously loudly. Oh, and annoying my sister at every possible opportunity :)!!
If anything, what would you change about Raleigh?
This year in Raleigh I would like to change the community spirit. I think the house is lacking slightly in this department so to see everyone interacting together would be a big positive and people could hopefully learn more about each other and make their time in the house more enjoyable and memorable.
If you could nominate one other person in Raleigh to be head of house, who would it be any why?
I would nominate Lily. She is great at interacting with the younger years and has some brilliant ideas about how to improve the house. She also does lots of co-curricular activities so would be a great ambassador for the school and house. Plus she also knows the house inside out.
Who is your favourite matron and why?
It’s got to be Mrs Eales. I’ve known her for many years and is just a person who you can go to and have a chat with if anything is wrong. I’ve also heard that she has some biscuits in one of her drawers in her office!
Jennifer H
My name is Jennifer Hellmann. I take Geography, Psychology and BTEC Sport as my A Levels. A year ago, I moved to England from South Africa. I am an aspiring RAF pilot and my passions at school are CCF and Guard, and now Head of House.
If anything, what would you change about Raleigh?
There isn’t anything that I would change about Raleigh but just to always make sure it’s the best-looking house and that everyone in the house is kind and always smiling.
If you could nominate one other person in Raleigh to be head of house, who would it be and why?
If I could nominate another person to be Head of House, I would choose Oli Goodwin-Day as he is hardworking and caring and always helpful around the house.
Who is your favourite matron and why?
Mrs. Eales would probably have to be my favourite Matron as I have known her for a long time and she is South African like me, she is super caring and has always looked after me. But of course, we cant forget about Mrs. Terry and Mrs. Bartrum, who are both kind and amazing Matrons.
Hawke
Denis D
Hi, my name is Dennis and I am current Head of House of Hawke. I enjoy doing sport like rugby and basketball, going to gym is a must for me. My A-Levels are Maths, Economics and English Literature.
What are your plans for Hawke this year?
This year, we plan to beat Collingwood in every aspect of school, be it academia or sport events. Though, in Chapel, we aren’t the loudest.
Which year group causes the most trouble?
Our boys are very well behaved… most of the time. Hawke’s Y9 is a challenging group often seen in front of Mr Gould’s office.
If you could have another head of house to help you, who would you choose?
Both Dan Pan, being Deputy Head, and my brother Daniil, who is Head of Co-Curriculum, are the first picks, they are very helpful. Yet it has to be Daniil for me, he’d do amazingly.
Hood
Daisy C
Hi, my name is Daisy and I’m head of Hood house (and the best bubble editor). I take History, English Lit and PRE- basically live and breathe essays. I joined in year 9 as a weekly boarder and spend my free time playing sport and performing.
What do you believe is your best leadership quality?
In terms of leading, I’d argue that my organisation, confidence and determination to deliver the requests of those around me are my best leadership skills.
How do you ensure you make time with the members of your house?
I make sure that everyone knows that my door is always open, get the run down from my family members and have a lil chit-chat when I am the duty prefect.
What is your favourite and least favourite part of Hood?
Hood has (arguably sadly) become a home away from home, so I’d say that our duty staff and decor are the best parts, with the worst thing unsurprisingly being the time it takes to walk to lessons (as it’s so far away).
Collingwood
George F
I’m George, head of house in collingwood and I am currently taking geography, business and DT for A-level. My hobbies are shooting, flying drones and restoring vintage things.
What are you most excited for with your new position?
I am most excited about organising the house for house shout and sports day as they are times when the whole house is involved and there is always lots of house spirit at these events.
What year group, apart from your own, would you say you’re closest with?
Other than my own year group I would say that I am closest with the year 13’s
What house do you feel the most competition with, whether that be academically or with sports?
I think that there is the most competition between St. V in both academics and sports.
That’s all for now, are you happy with who was chosen in your house?
