No one deserves to be bullied – Ayoola Oshiyemi
What is bullying? Bullying is the foul, aggressive behaviour that is used to intimidate someone, typically to force them to do something. This behaviour should never be tolerated, no matter what the particulars of the case. Bullying can come in so many different forms: physical bullying, verbal bullying, cyber bullying, etc. But one thing they all have in common is that it has a bad or negative effect on somebody.
Bullying could interfere with the life choices you make. Many people develop anger and mental issues from bullying which could force them to make bad choices which are wrong. They could feel insecure as maybe the bully is peer pressuring them to do a bad deed which they don’t want to do but you feel as if you have to abide by these rules as if you don’t the bully will hurt you.
Your appetite would change as bullying could actually have an effect on the way you eat. Being bullied changes your mood of eating, it makes you feel lost and empty in heart therefore you don’t want to eat. This could lead to skipping lunches on a regular basis and extreme weight loss. Bullying could also lead to self harm and frequent stomach aches and head aches. You could also get frequent nightmares and night terrors. Your attributes and self-esteem levels could rapidly decelerate all due to the shadow of negativity (bullies) but I can guarantee you that you are not alone on your journey at RHS.
RHS is a community, we are all in this Bubble together; there are so many people you can talk to: your parents, your close friends, the prefects, your housemistress or housemaster, your matron, Mrs Godfrey, Mr Dixon. There is a whole network of people that would love to speak to you about your troubles and would comfort you straight away. Trust me, you are not alone! No one deserves to be bullied. Like Mollie Freeman said: RHS really stands for respect, hard work and strength.
Our flaws: Our flaws are our weakness that attracts bullies. It is something that can be used against you. But only you can choose to allow them to use that imperfection against you. If you think that you have a flaw, trust me you are not alone. Everybody in this world has a flaw or a fault, some more hidden then others; if you don’t know it, it is waiting to be unlocked. I am warning you now if you don’t know your flaw then you are yet to discover it. Think about what is the point of judging others when there is so much that you can work on your self. Bullies are shadows of negativity and you cannot get them engulf your beams of happiness. Don’t let them ruin your life. You haven’t got time for someone that is trying to hurt you. You are stronger and better than you ever thought you were. We are all here to help you so don’t be afraid to report them. If you know anyone that is being bullied it is important that you tell a member of staff.
If you don’t report now, it will soon be too late.
Don’t make yourself a target: Bullies often look for someone that look that they are easily intimidated. Stand up for yourself! Don’t let anybody manipulate you. It turns out that the bully is having a hard time at home and wants to take it out on you or they are jealous of you or that it looks like you are a target. Don’t be a striking target.
Bullying is horrible, it is foul and it is nasty, no one deserves to be tortured like this, however together we can stand against it. And defeat bullying at this school and maybe all over the world. We can make a difference. Be an ‘upstander’, not a bystander.
