Co-op Return: ‘irresistible’ – Nanayaa

As many of you are aware, the co-op unfortunately closed on the 10th May and is later rumoured to reopen on the 5th of June. Although its refurbishment may not seem like an extensive period (especially considering half term fell in between) the loss of one of Holbrook’s most prized possessions was deeply mourned by many. Besides from its obvious role of being a grocery store, co-op provided a place of sanctity, a place of virtue for boarders to confide in every Sunday, and a place of elation when retrieving a package from the in-post locker. With versatility being one of co-op’s mains attributes and its ability to entice you to buy items you never really need, I think I can confidently speak for everyone when I say I am glad to have it back.

When trying to envision the ‘new and improved’ version I struggle to imagine how the place can really change by. Potentially, the aisles may have experienced a glamorous re-design, by rearranging the layout so it feels like your surrounded by a never-ending maze of shelves with each item arranged in height order. But other than that, very little comes to mind, therefore I am confident that coop will surpass my expectations as the bar is currently exceedingly low. In all honestly, even if the co-ops only modification is adding another self-serve checkout anything would be better than the current lack we are enduring.
