Meet the Prefects … by their socks (Pt 2)- Molly N
With odd socks day on Tuesday, it was the perfect opportunity to continue the series ‘Meet the Prefects’. The prefect team could show off their fluffy, stripey and Star Wars (???) socks with pride, and although it wasn’t a competition, I definitely sensed some tension in the air with even some critiques being thrown around!
Watch out for the debut of new school merch!
Starting off strong are Jack and Dan. Matching with their pose and socks, they were clearly very proud of their fashion as they were the first to send me their picture. The stripes are a bit boring, however the beer socks are very unique! And extra points for the fashionable technique of tucking the trousers into socks.
My absolute favourite out of these is Freya’s shark sock- where can I buy some?! While it tops all of the others, I think Niece did a very good job of modelling the new school merch. Kate’s are very colourful and I love how they are both matching and mismatched at the same time. It looks like Esther was taking more of a tame approach, and maybe going more for practicality by taking advantage of the opportunity to wear some warm socks.
Trying to coordinate a photo with the other heads of school was surprisingly difficult, despite us being in a boarding house together and are meant to be organised! After some wandering around house I managed to find almost everyone- David was at a rugby match but I’m not sure that’s a good enough excuse. Anyway, onto the socks … Sean’s Star Wars socks are probably my favourite, with arguably the best duo of the franchise! And a perhaps better version of Esther’s socks (sorry, Esther!) are Bella’s as they look even warmer and fluffier. Points deducted from Polly because hers weren’t mismatched but I love the bears. Finally, I just have to point out the Iceland socks that I bought on the geography trip in the summer (they were expensive but worth it!).
Just as you thought it couldn’t get any better (which I’m sure everyone was thinking), here’s a sports edition of ‘odd socks’! Credit goes to Sophie who let me borrow her socks. The neon colours definitely made us stand out, but hopefully only our good moments on the pitch!
Despite having changed into sports kit, Eri was still wearing her odd socks, and even promoting the RHS merch with the very fashionable style of pulling her socks over her tracksuits. And I think Ady’s are some of the best out of everyone’s- they look so fluffy and are perfectly mismatching!
In conclusion, here are the final rankings of the prefects’ socks:
3rd: Ady K- they are perfectly mismatched and very fluffy, although maybe not the most creative.
2nd: Freya N- I absolutely love the shark socks, although apparently they actually belong to Izzy JB so points were deducted.
And the moment you have been waiting for…
1st: Sean E- great socks overall- they are unique with a good franchise and the best duo of characters! 10/10
SPECIAL MENTION goes to myself (no surprise there), with the Iceland socks- take Geography A level, the trips are really fun!
