Bubble: the final curtain

Bubble: the final curtain

The time has come. Last year I wrote the article A Bubble: A farewell for last years leaving editors, and now here we are at the end of the Lent term with exams soon approaching (at the time of publishing my first exam is 59 days away). This years year 13s have worked very hard, churning out articles left, right and centre (except me, I’ve been slacking) and so it’s only fair that they get a very good send off before all hell breaks loose and we go insane.

  • favourite article that has ever come out?

Emi’s Toryfest 2023 was particularly amusing to read as a politics student. Last year’s monstrous mullets saga was also very amusing, if you haven’t read it, please do.

  • Favourite article that you wrote?

I really enjoyed doing History vs Geo and English vs Maths, they took ages but I always loved the outcome.

  • Your favourite editor?

Emi is obviously the only runner in this race, hilarious articles, always enjoyable and I will hear no different.

  • any final thoughts/ words of wisdom?

‘If you do it an hour before it’s due in, it only takes an hour to do.’ – Me

  • Favourite article that’s ever come out?

The first article I ever read was the one about Wallis mullets and their controversy which became my ‘awakening’ of the RHS bubble, but one of the funniest ones, and probably most relatable, is the one by max Arnold about Mr Hodson’s adventures including his interpretation of casting ‘lascivious eyes’.

  • favourite article that you wrote?

My favourite was probably mine and Emi’s definitive ranking of Sigma films and the university stereotypes.

  • Your favourite editor?

My fav editor is probably Mr Hodson himself – you can’t beat the OG. 🤷‍♀️

  • Any final thoughts/ words of wisdom?

Don’t restrict yourself to one future goal, let your options find different future paths.

More importantly though, take time to chill before sixth form – you’ll be looking back with envy xx

  • favourite article ever?

‘Monstrous Mullets’ has to be in the top 5, as well as Ella Finch’s ‘Ten Ways to Avoid Giving Hodson an Article by Deadline’ (a must-read for any Bubble editor), but I think I enjoyed any article that caused enough of a stir to be taken down – Daisy, I’m looking at you…

  • favourite article from yourself?

My favourite article I’ve written has got to be between my ‘Writers Strike Back’ two-parter and my Saltburn review. Of course, the co-authored ‘Definitive Ranking of Sigma Films’ and ‘The Cheese Conundrum’ come in close second, as well as the absolute corker that is ‘What’s the best font?’, but anything film-related probably tops it.

  • Favourite editor?

Anyone who was willing to co-author a stupid article with me! Eternal gratitude to Isabel and Daisy.

  • any final thoughts/ words of wisdom?

Do Bubble. It will become the bane of your life. Start a streak you can’t break. Enjoy the reprieve. Don’t take it too seriously.

Enjoy the younger years of the school as much as possible and embraced the opportunities you are given

Well now it’s time to say goodbye, which isn’t too upsetting because I have a whole other term at this school, but although I already said my final thoughts, I’m going to do some more here, I wrote the article I can do what I want. Coming from someone who has been at RHS for seven long years, I would say you have to prioritise what’s important in the moment, but don’t forget to look at the bigger picture as it’s something that’s easily forgotten, take the opportunities offered to you, and if you think all the older years sound keep repeating the same thing year after year and you are getting sick of hearing it, remember that there’s probably a reason why it’s always said, so try listening.

Bye for now x
