Rules to Live By – Your Role in the Environment – Daisy C

Think about what you buy !’ But doesn’t that suck?
Well the more you have, the more you chuck
Your rubbish into the bin,
That goes to the tip, the landfill, the sea, the rain falls with acid in,
That kills the fish, the plants, the trees, so that, in the end, we struggle to breathe
Because once we kill our environment, we kill humanity.

Consider your transport !’ But what’s the fuss?
Well it causes 30% of greenhouse gas.
When you’re travelling alone, take the train
and 70% of emissions will be drained.
Share cars with a friend to work or school
So that we can save the remaining coral.
And cycle or walk when the journey is short
to help sort the problem of transport.

Reduce fossil fuels !’ But why should I worry?
Because if we use them all up then you’ll be sorry,
Cold showers, cold winters, uncooked chicken, dark days,
The living crisis has arrived and it’s here to stay.
So switch those lights off when you leave a room,
Turn off the tap, keep radiators at 2.
And you may have to put on an extra layer,
But at least by 2050, we’ll have oil to spare.
