Red Dead Redemption 2 is a third person open world story driven game set at the end of the period of the ‘wild west’ 1899. It is also a prequel to Red Dead Redemption 1.
The story follows the Van der Linde gang after a botched ferry heist. The Gang are forced to leave their substantial money stash and flee the fictional town of Blackwater. Realizing the progress of civilization is ending the time of outlaws, they decide to gain enough money to escape the law and retire.
The gameplay flows nicely with fast paced shooting action and more tactical gameplay as well. The horse riding is also amazing as you can customise your horse. The game is also incredibly detailed with small details which add quirk to the gameplay such as Non Player character movements such as working throughout the day and then going to the pub in the night and each boot leaving a trail of mud wherever you go like an electronic mud canvas.
The side missions are also great with a good amount of variety and depending on when you complete them in the main storyline they have different endings.
The graphics are one of the best with some of the most realistic graphics to date. The environments and character design are also incredibly beautiful and look real.
Although the single player campaign is great the online mode is lacking in story, content and gameplay as it gets repetitive over a while. The developers don’t really spend much time with the online mode and focus on Grand Theft Auto Online more as it brings in more revenue overall.
The game is among one of the best selling video games of all time with over 37 million copies sold.
In summary, the game is incredible with the story and gameplay top notch however the game is slightly let down by the online mode.
